Lori Coleman – Personal

Lori was born and raised in Shady Side. Her father’s family, the Niemans, settled here in the mid-1800’s. Lori is 4th generation on the peninsula and is proud of the fact that her great-nieces and great-nephews take that number to 6 generations. 2nd and 3rd generation Nieman men were all waterman and boat builders that stayed local with a handful of 4th generation that carried on the waterman tradition. Lori’s mother’s family, the Siegerts hailed from Pemberton in Owensville and settled in Shady Side in 1930.Deep family roots are important to her as well as her sense of community. Lori has an older brother who lives locally and an older sister that travels extensively.

Lori held some pretty interesting jobs before deciding to open her tax business – she worked at the US Naval Academy (Oceanography Department), Capital Gazette Newspaper (cashiers office), Social Services, Maryland Department of Natural Resources (Licensing Department), and Ganzi Productions in Georgetown (Operations Manager). But her very favorite job was waitressing at a local family restaurant – Richard’s Corner Grill.

In 1997, Lori married the boy next door as the saying goes. Although they are separated, they remain the best of friends. Lori raised his daughter, Tiffini from the age of 11. Tiffini married another local and now has three children, all boys!

Currently, Lori is the caretaker of a 30-acre waterfront farm in Churchton and runs her business from there. Abundant wildlife roams the property and keeps her entertained.
